Oh hello

5.02.2008 • in the early evening

Well I have survived this hellish week unscathed (pretty much).  Last week I was on vacation and you know what it’s like coming back from a nice few days off.  H.E.C.T.I.C as hell I’d like to call it.  I’m working on a big project and it’s taking alot of time to get numbers and figures together.  Spreadsheets galore.  Not only that but I’m trying to do my other daily duties and lets not mention that everyone can’t fart around there without asking me something about it.  Today I just had to close my office door in order to get some things done.  I don’t usually do that because I like to be accessible to my co-workers but I needed that little bit of quiet time to finish.

This weekend my Hubby will be going on a short trip and my son is going to be doing a field trip with band which ends with a few hours at an amusement park.  He has to be at his school before 7 am tomorrow and they are not expected back until 11:45 tomorrow night...if they are lucky.  See they will be coming back from Williamsburg area and let’s not forget that the Richmond race is tomorrow too.  Can we say traffic?  So I asked my mom if she wanted Brianna for the weekend so I wouldn’t have to get her up extra early tomorrow or keep her up extra late tomorrow night.  So I have a free Saturday pretty much all to myself.  I wonder what I can get myself into?  I know a pedicure will be had, and I’m sure I’ll clean the bathrooms because they need it and no one else is coming in here to clean it (although I keep wishing).  Then maybe a little shopping or something.  I do need to work on some things for the office which I may do tomorrow evening while waiting for the boy to get back from his trip.

Other than that, my life has been pretty boring.  I kinda like it like that though.

Vacation over now get back to work

4.28.2008 • in the mid-afternoon

Gosh that week went by too fast.  I wish I would have done more fun things for myself though.  My highlight of last week was taking my car in for an oil change and having to leave in a rental.  The torque on demand module needed to be replaced on my 9 month old car.  But it and the rental was all covered under warranty and it’s driving even better than ever.  If only it used lemon juice or something as fuel I would be super happy.  Gas prices...don’t get me started on that again.

Anyway, it was back to work today and I was busy as ever.  It did make the day go by a little faster since I’m pretty much draggin my ass all day today.  Hubby left for a weekend trip and of course I do not sleep well when he is not here so I am SUPER tired. He got home late last night too so that meant going to bed late for me.  I’ll be lucky if I can keep my eyes open past 9 pm tonight.

Well I must get back into the routine of my life and figure out something to fix for dinner and wait for a load of clothes to finish washing.

Timbuktu

4.22.2008 • in the late afternoon

The finals of the National Poetry Contest last year came down to two finalists.  One was a Duke University Law School Graduate from an upper crust family; well bred, well connected, and all that goes with it.  The other finalist was a redneck from Southeast Tennessee A&M.

The rules of the contest required each finalist to compose a four line poem in one minute or less, and the poem had to contain the word “Timbuktu”.

The Duke graduate went first.  About thirty seconds after the clock started he jumped up and recited the following poem:

“Slowly across the desert sand
Trekked the dusty caravan
Men on camels, two by two
Destination--Timbuktu”

The audience went wild!!!  How, they wondered, could the redneck top that??  The clock started again and the redneck sat in silent thought.  Finally, in the last few seconds, he jumped up and recited:

“Tim and me, a huntin we went
had three whores in a pop up tent.
They was three, we was two,
So I bucked one and Timbuktu.”
